8-12 January - Back in the Game

posted Jan 7, 2018, 4:35 PM by HSD Principal
Welcome to second semester! I hope you all had a restful break and are ready to engage in learning again. It seems like there isn't much of a chance to catch your breath second semester, but we have at least a couple of weeks before things get busy again. Here's some stuff you should know:

Mr Todd Eichenauer has returned from a semester furlough and will resume teaching Concert Choir.

Mrs Sunny Kim has started work as the new guidance counselor. She's here part time - for now - and will begin by helping students plan for life after Faith. Stop by and introduce yourself when you get a chance.

We are halfway through the year, so it's time to record progress on your goals for this school year. In your yearly goals folder on Google Drive (it should be 'lastname, firstname - 2017', eg. 'Barner, Mark - 2017'), update your goals form with your progress to date by next Friday, 19 January.

We need to complete our student feedback process from first semester. By the end of Monday, 8 January, you should have a Google form copy of Student Feedback to Teachers in your yearly goals folder. Choose at least one period of students to send the form to. If you want to add specific question(s) to get feedback related to your yearly goals, feel free to do so.

If you received a green 2018-2019 budget sheet in your box, please fill it out and return it to Mars by next Friday, 19 January. If you have any questions or problems, come see me.

Tuesday for ASERT, we will start with a brief All-Staff meeting in Tipunan for an update on the accreditation process. After that, we will split into groups for either biblical integration or Truth Project.

This week and next we will follow normal schedules. There will be a modified schedule on the 26th to accommodate an assembly with Josh McDowell, who is in town for an event that weekend. The following week is Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) and there will be a modified schedule with chapel each day.

If you are planning on attending Outdoor Ed in a few weeks, shoot me an email so I know who will be gone, then work on finding subs for your classes for that week. There will be 15 seniors attending OE that week, and that begins about a month of different traveling, with different students gone for each event. We'll send around planned absence forms and provide lists of who is attending each trip.
  • 5-9 February: Outdoor Ed
  • 20-25 February: ACSC Basketball Tournaments
  • 2-7 March: MUN
  • 7-10 March: ACSC Honor Choir
  • 17-21 March: Senior Trip
